EXPLANATION

CERTIFICATION OF AUTHENTICITY

Some government agencies need to know that a translation of an official document such as grade or insurance certificates etc corresponds with the original. In such cases the translator compares the original with the translation and certifies that the document is a true and exact translation of the original.

AUTHORIZED TRANSLATOR

An authorized translator translates written documents. It is a protected professional title certified by the Legal, Financial and Administrative Services Agency by Decree (1985:613). An authorized translator is used for translating documents where the translation is equally binding as the original document.

APOSTILLE

Apostille means certification and refers to the legalization of a document for international use under the terms of the 1961 Hague Convention Abolishing the Requirement of Legalization for Foreign Public Documents. Documents certified with a conformant apostille are accepted for legal use in all the nations that have signed the convention, which means that further certification is not needed from a foreign embassy. As of 2005, only a notary public has the right to issue an apostille. (Source: Wikipedia).
